Uniform information

School uniform ensures that each child can feel a sense of identity in that they belong to our school and that they are the same as everyone else. Our uniform is voluntary but parents are asked that their children wear the recommended clothing. We have sweatshirts and polo shirts on which the St Aelred’s badge is printed. These, along with other items of school clothing, are obtainable through our web-based uniform supplier, whose details are available from the school office. All clothing and PE/Games kit should be labeled clearly with the child’s name.

  •  Black/Dk Grey trousers
  •  Navy blue school sweatshirt
  •  Blue polo shirt
  •  Black shoes

  •  Navy blue pinafore dress or skirt
  •  Navy blue tailored trousers may be worn
  •  Navy blue school sweatshirt or cardigan
  •  Blue polo shirt
  •  In the summer girls can wear a blue checked school dress
  •  Flat black shoes

In accordance to current Health & Safety guidance, we actively discourage the wearing of all forms of jewellery in school, except watches, but if a child has pierced ears, studs (not earrings, for safety reasons) may be worn. All jewellery MUST be removed for PE and Games lessons in accordance with sports association guidelines.

PE & Games Kit

Each class of children will do PE each week, usually indoors. Keystage 2 children have a Games period each week too, which will usually take place outside. Therefore these are our recommendations for indoor kit (for everyone each week) and outdoor kit (for Key Stage 2 children)

Indoor: White t-shirt, navy shorts, plimsoles

Outdoor: Football shirt, shorts, trainers, (jogging bottoms and sweatshirt or tracksuit should be worn in cold weather)

Each Key Stage 2 child will have the opportunity to take part in football and hockey at some stage and therefore we insist that they wear shin-pads in accordance with National Sports Association guidelines.

PE/Games kit should be brought to school in a separate bag (PE bags can be bought from our uniform supplier) to the one used for carrying books. Indoor PE kit should be left in school in a draw-string bag (these bags are available from the uniform supplier).
