The school has a thriving and active parent group called Friends of St Aelred's (FOSTA).  This organisation has supported the school for over 30 years and its contribution to the life of the school community has been invaluable.  FOSTA has always tried to remain true to its original aims which are:

  • To provide social activities for everyone involved with the school in order that good links be established between home and school;
  • To perform an education service when and where appropriate e.g. talks and discussions on matters of current interest;
  • To raise funds for the school.

FOSTA organise events such as: the Christmas and summer fairs; other fundraising activities such printing children's Christmas card designs; support school visits through subsidising coach travel; provided much-needed resources in school such as books for the library; arrange enjoyable activities for the children such as theatre groups performing in school and the much-loved visit of the ice-cream van on the last day of the summer term!

FOSTA has consistently made generous donations to the school over a number of years.  Their work is much appreciated and it is hoped that parents new to St Aelred’s School will become actively involved in the work of the association.
