Guidance and suggestions about learning from home while the school is closed:

NURSERY RECEPTION YEAR 1 YEAR 2

No formal learning expectations.

Things that children do in nursery that you could do at home include:

sharing stories and rhymes;  

singing songs;

counting;

drawing;

construction (such as Lego);

craft activities/junk modelling activities - cutting, sticking etc;

baking;

dressing up/role play/imaginary play;

encouraging talking (explaining, describing, asking questions, making up stories).

Nursery teacher be in touch from time to time via Tapestry. 

Suggested time each day for focused learning:

3 x 10 minutes

Suggested activities:

Bug Club reading - with a grown up;

Phonics Play;

Maths activities on websites;

Opportunities to draw and write;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups or older siblings;

Suggested time each day:

3 x 15 minutes

Suggested activities:

Bug Club reading - with a grown up;

Phonics Play;

Maths activities on websites;

Regular opportunities to write (sentences);

Listening to stories read by grown-ups or older siblings;

Reading comprehension activities;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups or older siblings;

Maths skills sheets;

Phonics Play/Phonics worksheets

YEAR 3 YEAR 4 YEAR 5 YEAR 6

Suggested time each day: 3 x 30 mins 

Suggested activities:

Bug Club reading - with a grown up;

Reading comprehension activities;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups or older siblings;

Learning spellings

Maths - Times Tables Rockstars, activities in packs and on websites;

Opportunities to write - including longer pieces;

Suggested time each day: 3 x 30 mins

Suggested activities:

Bug Club reading - with a grown up;

Independent reading;

Reading comprehension - Comprehension Ninja;

activities;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups;

Learning spellings

Maths - Times Tables Rockstars, activities in packs and on websites;

Learning set by the class teacher via Google Classrooms - including writing tasks;

Suggested activities:

Bug Club reading/independent reading; 

Reading comprehension;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups;

Learning spellings

Maths - Times Tables Rockstars, activities in packs and on websites;

Learning set by the class teacher via Google Classrooms - including writing tasks;

Suggested activities:

Independent reading; 

Reading comprehension;

Listening to stories read by grown-ups;

Learning spellings

Maths - SATs guides; Sum Dog and other websites;

Learning set by the class teacher via Google Classrooms - including writing tasks;
