Keeping Children Safe

The safety and welfare of pupils is a key duty for all staff and a priority within the school.

Members of staff with designated responsibility for safeguarding at St Aelred's are:

Lead: Suzanne Ulyett (headteacher)

Deputies: Debbie Feehan (Deputy Headteacher) and Sylvia Klays (Early Years Leader)

Any concerns about a pupils safety or welfare are brought directly to the safeguarding lead or - in her absence - to either of the deputies.  Safeguarding staff members will act on concerns they receive, usually by talking with parents and carers, seeking the views and wishes of pupils and, if appropriate, seeking the support of other agencies.

Safeguarding matters are confidential in school and are only shared on a 'need-to-know' basis with members of staff in order to ensure the safety and well-being of pupils.  CPOMS is used in school which is an electronic system which supports effective communication of concerns and systematic recording of actions, at the same time as keeping information confidential and secure.
